Holy Communion
The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life.""The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch. - Catechism of the Catholic Church 1324 |
As Catholics, we believe the Eucharist is truly the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ our Lord. The Eucharist sustains us and transforms us. Only someone who is in full communion with the Catholic Church, has reached the age of reason, and is in a state of grace may receive the Eucharist in the celebration of the Mass. If you are unable to receive the Eucharist, you are welcome to remain in your pew during Holy Communion. We also want to invite you to come forward to receive a blessing from the Priest of Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Please cross your arms over your chest so they know not to give you the Eucharist.
The Eucharist remains reposed within the tabernacle of the Chapel at all times (with the exception of Good Friday and Holy Saturday). It is appropriate to genuflect on entering the Chapel to show reverence to Christ.
