Welcome Students!
Music is an incredible gift which can bring God’s children – young and old - together in songful expressions of gratitude, petition and praise. Let’s come together, making a commitment to practice well, and pray that we may be blessed by the Holy Spirit to share our deepest longings in making a joyful noise unto the Lord!

ELIGIBILITY
Vocalists – If you love to sing…You don’t need to have a solo quality voice. We need choral participants too! The ability to read music is definitely helpful, but not required. A good ear is preferred. Of course, we are always excited to find new cantors as well!
Instrumentalists - you must have your own instrument and be fairly proficient on your instrument (meaning you have played for several years and probably recently).
If you happen to play piano, organ or guitar - and are somewhat skilled and experienced - please introduce yourself to me after Mass!

Our congregation is a growing mix of students, faculty, staff and community and we truly appreciate what wonderful and heartfelt efforts our musicians bring to St Mary’s.
Prayerfully consider JOINING THE MUSIC MINISTRY!

Biography
Linda is from Kent in Northeast Ohio where she and her family attended St. Patrick's Church. She has special memories of 8 years of St. Patrick’s School with the Sisters of the Holy Humility of Mary, daily Mass, and music sung at Stations of the Cross, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, and in honor of Mary during the month of May.
She eventually played organ for St. Pat's Masses while attending Kent State University where she met her future husband, Andrew. They both earned Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in piano. Linda also studied piano at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music and then in Vienna, Austria with Andy who was a recipient of a Fulbright scholarship.
After several moves, starting a family, teaching piano, and being involved with music at churches in Ohio and Connecticut, Andrew was hired by SFA as Coordinator of Keyboard Studies and Linda became a piano instructor and later served as associate, co-director and director of the SFA Music Preparatory Division where she continues to teach piano; she also taught piano for 24 years as adjunct School of Music piano faculty.
While their children were young, she and Andrew attended and helped with music at Sacred Heart Church on North Street. When the Appleby Sand Road location became a reality they were instrumental in finding the organ and grand piano for the new church and participated in a special dedication concert.
In 2003 when their youngest daughter left for college, Linda offered to help with the music ministry at St. Mary's. The music ministry has since grown to include director, assistant director, cantor and instrumentalist positions. Through the years the choir has attended retreats and given several sacred music concerts at locations of St. Mary’s Chapel, Sacred Heart Church, the Multicultural Festival in Nacogdoches; at St. Patrick’s and the Dominican Monastery of the Infant Jesus in Lufkin; and at the Sisters of St Cecilia Dominican Monastery in Nashville TN.
